STORIES IN CLOTH — QUILTED ART

TO LIVE A CREATIVE LIFE WE MUST LOSE OUR FEAR OF BEING WRONG

Discovering quilted art was totally unexpected, fascinating, and challenging.

It opens a world filled with color and texture that allows me to explore

all areas of my artistic journey and apply what I know from one art form

while combining it uniquely with another.

My work is inspired by nature, children, and life in the world around us.

Taking daily walks, camera in hand, fills my mind with color and design

possibilities, while my time in the studio results in pieces that hold those

visions in fabric and thread, allowing me to share STORIES IN CLOTH.

All quilted art is original and one of a kind.   For each work I like to take

a starting point such as computer generated fabric, printed using a photo

from my collection of personal digital photography.  An object such as a

bird, animal, or a child exploring life suggests to me what to create.

My pictorial / collage quilted art is accomplished using many techniques

including the use of colored pencil, textile painting, and a combination of

commercial and hand dyed fabrics then is finished with an overlay of tulle.

Each piece is completed using free-motion machine quilting on my home

                   sewing machine.
